Four BantUGent talks at CALL 2026 in Leiden

BantUGent was represented at the 55th Colloquium on African Languages and Linguistics (CALL), held at Leiden University from 24 to 26 August 2026. Group members presented research on tone, morphosyntax, language contact, and historical linguistics:
  • Chrisnah Renaudot Mfouhou, Grammatical tone as a diagnostic of tonal stem classes in Ndunga (“Ubangi”, Mbaic),
  • Elisabeth Kerr (with Adriel Josias Bébiné), Particles and A’-movement in Nuasúɛ;
  • Nina van der Vlugt (with Maarten Mous), The travels of dama ‘calf’ in Eastern and Southern Africa;
  • Paulin Baraka Bose, Segmental morphology of the verb in Furu,
In addition, BantUGent members contributed to the conference by chairing several sessions throughout the event.
